Dr. Mark Blair, MD
Dr. Blair is a board-certified psychiatrist and U.S. Air Force veteran who founded Optimum TMS in 2017 to treat patients whose depression hadn't responded to medication alone. He and a team of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners oversee every TMS, Spravato, IV ketamine, and BrainAge case at the clinic.

The path here
From general psychiatry to a singular focus.
Twenty-five years in psychiatry shaped Dr. Blair's understanding of where standard care reaches its limits - and where interventional treatments take over.

His approach
Interventional psychiatry, when medication isn't enough
Most psychiatry practices are built around prescribing and managing medication. That works well for many patients, and it's still the right starting point. But a meaningful share of patients with depression don't respond fully to medication, or can't tolerate the side effects, or stop responding after years on it.
Dr. Blair built Optimum TMS for that group. The clinic offers Deep TMS, Spravato, IV ketamine, and BrainAge scans under one roof. The point isn't to push one of these on every patient, it's to have the right tool for the case in front of him, and the honesty to refer elsewhere when none of them are the right answer.
That clinical breadth, informed by years treating depression, OCD, anxiety, and severe mental illness in hospital settings, is what shapes how he evaluates fit. Patients tell us that's the difference they notice in a consultation: someone weighing what would actually work for them, not selling a treatment.
What to expect
What happens in your consultation.
The initial appointment is structured to figure out whether interventional treatment fits - and which one. Conducted by Dr. Blair or a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
Your history, in detail
Your first session is dedicated to finding the optimal coil placement for your specific anatomy. Properly mapped placement reduces unintended muscle stimulation and minimizes discomfort.
Candidacy review
Daily 20-minute sessions. You'll feel a rhythmic tapping on one side of your head. Most patients notice no change yet. That's normal.
Treatment plan options
If a treatment fits, you'll walk through what the course would look like - number of sessions, duration, what to expect, and what evidence supports it. If a different treatment in our practice would fit better, you'll hear that instead.
Insurance and next steps
We verify your benefits during or just after the consultation. You'll receive a written cost estimate before any treatment begins. No surprise bills, no pressure to decide on the spot.
Professional memberships
